Another issue comes in when songs in an album are “missing.” You have to find each song individually, even though they’re usually all in the same folder. iTunes should be able to find missing songs by looking in the folder you just pointed to.

I would like to see the ability to do all of these things in a batch.
You can go into the file menu and choose “new folder.” You can fill the folder with various playlists and smart playlists. The whole folder can then be selected and treated as a playlist, or you can click the arrow to expand the folder and choose any of the component playlists to use.

iTunes works fine for me when opening multiple applications.
